Have you ever ordered print products at an online print shop? Then you might know the feeling of not being sure which paper type the best one for your particular purpose and product is. Looking at the huge variety of paper types Saxoprint.co.uk offers we understand this problem very well and want to give you a hand by providing some information on this matter.
But simply reading information on how to choose the best paper type is certainly not enough!
Therefore we have made a great effort to create some new colourful and stunning print samples that shall act as a tool of advice. By ordering these free of charge on Saxoprint.co.uk you can come to enjoy the paper types haptically and visually.
Holding these in your hands you can go on by considering the following questions:
1. Which product do you search a suitable paper type for?
2. For which purpose do you want to use this product for?
3. Shall your product be printed on both sides?
By answering these questions it is easier to assess the requirements which the product has to fulfill in order to meet your demands. Should your product for instance be especially light because you need to send it by post and want to save on postage or is it to be printed on both sides and you don’t want the rear side to shine through?
The following list can be very helpful for your decision-making:
Business cards (1- and 2-sided) -> the paper should have a certain strength |
Business cards (4-sided) -> the paper should have a certain strength, but shouldn’t be too voluminous when folded |
Letterheads (1-sided) -> regarding postage costs a light paper can be of advantage |
Letterheads (2-sided) -> for double-sided printing a too light, translucent paper is rather unsuited |
Brochures without cover -> when having a small number of pages or image brochures the paper can have a certain strengt -> when having more pages a maximum grammage of 135 gsm is recommended -> for a grammage from 170 gsm creasing is necessary as further processing type as this prevents the danger of the breaking up of the colour on the fold |
Brochures with cover -> you can choose different paper types for cover and content -> paper for cover should have a higher grammage -> paper for content should have a lower grammage -> recommended paper types for the cover: please see to the right -> recommend paper types for the content: please see brochures without cover |
Advertising posters (1-sided) -> neon paper (fluorescent paper) is suitable for black printing because of its colour intensity
Posters (2-sided) -> suitable for the posting on glass surfaces, shop windows etc. that are visible from both sides |
Flyers (1- and 2-sided) -> 90 – 135 gsm are suitable for inserts in brochures etc. |
Folded leaflets -> for a grammage from 170 gsm creasing is necessary as further processing type as this prevents the danger of the breaking up of the colour on the fold |
Calendars -> because of the spiral bound a creasing is not necessary for high grammages |
DVD-/CD-Covers -> 100 – 135 gsm is suitable for a high page number as the space in height is limited in a jewel case |
Postcards -> glossy on the front side, writable on the silky rear |
